Lithic Lounge Chair comes from Maha Alavi, and it sits low. Solid oak frame, generous upholstered cushion, and a shape that stretches the plainest chair frame into something rounder and softer than you'd expect.
The inspiration is prehistoric craft. That sounds grand until you look at the machined turns in the oak — each one carved to cradle the cushion, which is where the comfort actually lives. Rounded proportions, low profile, nothing fussy.
Maha Alavi is a Toronto-based industrial designer, and her work leans on seamless joinery and intuitive forms. The result here reads as visual fluidity: immediate, and gentle on the eye.
