Built for the table, the Lithic Dining Chair keeps the solid oak frame and generous upholstered cushion of the Lithic series. Maha Alavi designed it with a compact profile, so rounded proportions don't crowd the room.
Prehistoric craft drives the concept: take the most basic chair frame and push it into an exaggerated, soft form. Machined turns in the oak cradle the cushion rather than just holding it.
Alavi works out of Toronto. Seamless joinery and intuitive forms run through her practice, giving the chair a visual fluidity that feels immediate and gentle at once.
